Nellie Dillon Obituary

Nellie M. Dillon VIRGINIA BEACH - Nellie M. Dillon, 89, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loved ones, Thursday, April 8, 2010 in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Born in North Carolina, she'd been an area resident for more than 60 years. She was an active member of Bayview Baptist Church of Norfolk, retired from civil service as a telephone operator for CINCLANTFLT, N.O.B., Norfolk. She was involved in various charities being a loving and giving person. She was the widow of Wyke N. Dillon since 1964. Surviving three loving daughters, Patricia Ann Dillon, Retta L. Lang, Shelley O'Neal, and her faithful companion/dog Dillon, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Jerry Smith, Charles Maples, James Maples and Carol Phillippi. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
