Herbert Powell Obituary

Herbert E. Powell PORTSMOUTH - Herbert E. Powell, 79, closed his eyes and opened them in the presence of his Lord and Savior on April 11, 2010. Herbert was the son of the late Samuel and Dora O. Powell. He is survived by his brother, Waverly M. "Red" Powell; "special niece Joyce G. Smith of Portsmouth; another niece, Lorraine Jones of Forest Park, Ga.; a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Thursday, April 15, at 11 a.m. in New Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. A wake will be held today from 6 to 7 p.m. in Corprew Funeral Home.
