Victoria Knapp Obituary

Victoria N. Knapp NORFOLK - Victoria Noel "Tori" Knapp died April 18, 2010 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Tori blest everyone she met. She came into this world facing challenges some would consider insurmountable and taught all of us the beauty of a life lived with joy and love. To meet Tori was to be in the presence of the angels. Victoria was the daughter of Richard N. and Janice Knapp and the granddaughter of the late Johnnie J. Johnson, Richard E. Knapp and Joyce Bell Knapp. Her celebration of life will be continued by her parents, her grandmother, Pina Margiotti Johnson, and her beloved brother and best friend, John Richard Knapp. Her spirit and love will continue to guide her Zia Maria Margiotti Veniero, great-aunts, Madeline Jones, Celeste Duplantis, Ben Bell and Yvonne Thomas. She is also in the hearts of her aunts and uncles, Sandra and Lee Johnston, Brenda and Terry Frederick, Jerry and Barbara Johnson and their children, Heather, Anita, Olivia, Genevieve, Bary, Lindsey and Joseph. Tori's love extended throughout her Italian family, Anna Maria, Patrizia and Raffaella. Tori graduated from Maury High School in 2001 and attended TCC, Norfolk. She was a Sunday school teacher, usher and participant in the young people's program at Sacred Heart Church. She worked at Executive Health and Fitness Center, where her boss, Vicky Saxby, became her beloved mentor and friend. Her nanny and friend for life, Carolyn Artis, held her and loved her, along with her parents and brother through years of life-threatening battles. Tori's legacy, for all of us, will remain forever imprinted upon our lives, along with her smile, bright, twinkling eyes, dimples and joie de vivre. Her funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Church today, April 22, at noon. There was a wake held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children Foundation Inc., 6171 Kempsville Circle, Norfolk, VA 23502 or online at www.saintmaryshome.org. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.hdoliver. com.

Tori always made me smile. Her Outlook on life was wonderful. Although her time here was short, her quality of life was great. She lived her faith large. Her love for the Lord was great. I learned many a life lesson from her. She added to my life. May God bless her family.

Dear Janice, Rick and John,

I am so sorry to learn about Tori. Just the other day I was in your lovely garden speaking with Janice and she said that Tori was not well. I did not see the information in the paper or I would have responded sooner.

It is so hard to lose someone you love and I cannot imagine a child. While I only saw Tori several times in person, I did see her many times getting in and out of the car with Janice and she was always smiling. What a treasure she must have been in your life.

My heartfelt prayers and sympathy extend to you and your family. I know that you believe that Tori is a wonderful addition to heaven and is still smiling down on you all.

Sincerely,

Stacy Goode

To the Knapp Family,

I was truly fortunate to interact with Tori frequently at Executive Health & Fitness. She knew that I knew her Father from the maritime industry and she was always eager to share a good story about Rick, even when it came at his expense! In fact, I shared my frequent preoccupation with my iPhone and Rick's tendency to call me out on that subject. It was with great excitement that Tori informed me of her Dad's recent acquisition of an iPhone and his growing fixation. We both laughed and I promised to use that information to my advantage.

Tori was a joy to know and I will miss her. She will always be a great credit to your family. May God grant you peace and comfort in this most difficult time.

Janice, Rick, and John, Torie was amazing as we watched her grow from an adorable child into a wonderful adult sitting in the pew in front of us. She shared her smile with everyone she met, and her bubbly "Shirley Temple effervescence" made you happy to be near her. Heaven has a new angel to watch over us, and we will all miss her very much.

To my Godmother, Janice, my friend-in-Christ, Rick, my Godnephew, John Richard & our matriarch, Zia Pia - Pina Johnson, Tori's Nonina :

You all remain in my heart & in my prayers down here in Florida. I've spent the past 48 hours reminiscing through beautiful photos & special memories of my T-O-R-I-A-D-O-R-I. As you know she was our a-r-c-h-a-n-g-e-l here on Earth, expressing her peace, love & innocence to all whom she saw & like all good servants of God's, she blessed us all teaching us how to love & how to laugh.

Peace unto you - with my love & prayers,
