Annie Payne Obituary

Annie Midgette Payne PORTSMOUTH - Annie Midgette Payne, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, April 26, 2010. She was born in North Carolina the daughter of the late Alice Benson Midgette and L.S. Midgette Sr. Mrs. Payne was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. Annie was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Shelton M. Payne; her great-granddaughter Makalya Modlin; and her 12 brothers and sisters. Annie is survived by her children: Shelton Ray Payne and his wife Roxanne of Portsmouth, Robert Sherald Payne and his wife Carolyn of Portsmouth, William Howard Payne and his wife Betty of Smithfield, Michael Alan Payne and his wife Jean of Portsmouth and Cynthia P. Modlin of Portsmouth. Also surviving Annie are her grandchildren, Kristine P. Matheson, Jennifer P. Mather, Dana L. Modlin, Jonathan H. Payne, Jessica M. Payne, Christopher P. Modlin, M. Scott Payne and Alice Marie Payne. Annie also leaves behind six great- grandchildren. A funeral to celebrate Annie's life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Potter officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Online condolences and Mrs. Payne's guestbook may be signed at www.lovingfuneralhome.com.
