Helen Vass Obituary

Helen Belle Vass HILLSVILLE - Helen Belle Vass, 88, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Vass was born in Staunton, Va., to the late George Booker and Cordelia Andrew Swink. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Vass Sr. and brother Ted Swink. She is survived by her daughter, Judith E. Danielian-Holland of Rockville, Md.; son, James E. Vass Jr. of Port O'Connor, Texas; sisters Virginia Craig of Staunton, Va., and Martha Taylor of Harrisonburg, Va.; four grandchildren, David L. Danielian-Holland, Janice E. Danielian, Catherine Holland and Robert J. Holland Jr.; and very special pet, King James III. A funeral will be held Wednesday, April 28, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kevin Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Twin County Hospice, P.O. Box 106, Galax, VA 24333. A guestbook is available online by visiting www.vaughanguynnandmcgrady.com.
