She is survived by her daughters, Susan Igareda and Dorine Laskowski, son-in-law Paul Laskowski, grandchildren Thad and Kara Laskowski and many friends. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Angela was a woman who possessed a caring heart, brilliant mind and genuine concern for all those whom she met. She was both a devoted wife and mother who made her home on oasis of love and happiness for her family and a career woman as well. Her wish was to attend college but since she was a Depression Era child she was forced to enter the work force and help support her family. She resolved to educate herself and was a voracious reader her entire life. She was very well versed in history, political science, literature, art and music. She had studied Latin and throughout her life re-read the great works of literature in the original Latin. Her command of the English language was superb and she could finish the New York Times Crossword Puzzle at record speed. She loved poetry and composed beautiful, moving poems. She was an honor graduate of Central Commercial High School, a distinguished school that prepared young women for the business world. Angela held many jobs over her lifetime. She was the private secretary to the program director of Mutual Broadcasting Network (NYC) for more than 12 years. She was fluent in many dialects of Italian and subbed as translator for the network during World War II. She took time off from her career to be there for her two daughters during their early years but later reentered the work force. For 20 years she was secretary to several chiefs of staff at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. After moving to Virginia, she was a secretary for Norfolk Public Schools. Angela loved and excelled at all her jobs. She was one of those rare individuals who posses a natural talent, exceptional skill and tireless devotion. She was the epitome of a dedicated professional. Angela was a lady in every sense of the term. Her values, dress, speech and manner mirrored those qualities that have become rare in today's world. A devout Catholic, she was deeply religious with a close affinity to God. She always placed her life in God's hands. Her total trust in God allowed her to show outstanding courage in the face of any crisis. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother, St. Theresa and St. Jude. Angela lived her life with love, kindness and respect for people and animals. Her house was always home to the many stray dogs and cats she welcomed into her heart and home. She saw goodness in everyone she met and spent her life praying for and helping all who crossed her path. She was truly the rock of her family and a great wife, mother and grandmother. By quiet example, she taught her family the true meaning of total love, devotion, self sacrifice, and devout faith in God. She always put others first, never complained and extended love to all she met. Her love, thoughtfulness, warmth, kindness, care and wit can never be replaced. Angela was devastated by the death of Charlie, her beloved husband of 64 years. Her family takes great comfort in the knowledge she is again dancing with her Charlie in the presence God.
