Muriel Peebles

Muriel B. Peebles VIRGINIA BEACH - Muriel B. Peebles, 90, of the 1400 block of Maharis Road, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010 at her home. Born in Fairburn, Ga., to the late Edna and David Brock, Muriel had worked for civil service and was an active member of Haygood United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Frank Ballard Peebles and is survived by two daughters, Ann P. Verhaagen and husband Herb and Phyllis P. Porter and husband James; four grandchildren, David Allan Verhaagen and wife Ellen, Brian L. Verhaagen and wife Gail, James Porter Jr. and wife Lisa and Melissa Dawn Porter-Miller and husband Robert; eight great-grandchildren, Christina LeAnn Verhaagen, Abbey Mannon Verhaagen, Samantha Ann Verhaagen, Joshua Dalton Verhaagen, Jenna Renae Porter, Jessica Lynn Porter, Micah Shea Porter-Miller and Ryan James Porter; a sister, Pallie McClure and husband Herman; a brother, Ed Brock; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haygood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Shumate and the Rev. Melissa Porter-Miller. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Haygood United Methodist Church.
