Marie Manning Brown NORFOLK - Marie Manning Brown, beloved wife and aunt, has gone home to be with her Lord. She was born and raised in Bailey, N.C. She had 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by one sister, Pearl Brown of Wilson, N.C. She came to Norfolk in the 1940s, and it was there she met and married her husband of 43 years, Raymond Brown. She retired from Rices Nachmans Beauty Salon at JANAF Shopping Center and was actively involved at Lake Taylor Civic League. She enjoyed her family, gardening, traveling, and music. For the last two and a half years, she has been a resident of Pacifica Senior Living and was blessed with many friends there. Marie will be deeply missed by all her nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of her dear friends at Virginia Heights Baptist and Pacifica Senior Living for their kind and loving support. Services will be held at Virginia Heights Baptist Church, 1251 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, Wednesday, May 5. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon and the service will begin at noon. Marie's nephew, the Rev. Robert P. Coats Jr., will be officiating. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens following the church service. I am Johnnie and Lola Manning's grandson and just found out about Marie today.... really sorry... I remember she and Raymond used to come down especially to the Manning reunions over the years. She was always one who kept the crowd laughing with her sense of humor. I know she will be missed... too bad we can't go back to some of those good times..
