Alethia Dunn Obituary

Alethia Lucas Dunn CHESAPEAKE - Alethia Lucas Dunn, formerly of the Berkley section of Norfolk, passed away within hours of her 98th Mother's Day, Saturday, May 8, 2010. Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Virginia Lucas and was widowed by Howard C. "Speedy" Dunn. Mrs. Dunn was retired as an officer with Chesapeake Savings and Loan. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and the Berkley Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two sons, Howard C. Dunn Jr. and wife Ellen of Viera, Fla. and William L. "Speedy" Dunn and wife Jackie of Kissimmee, Fla.; four grandsons, Howard C. Dunn III, W. Christopher Dunn, Matthew A. Dunn and Patrick W. Dunn; three great- grandchildren, Sydney Rae Dunn, Richard C. Dunn and Emily E. Dunn; as well as a niece, Elizabeth D. Kimberling; and nephews, Ray Benton and Dwight Benton. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Granby Street, Norfolk. The Rev. Bob Hobson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www. omanfh.com.
