Eunice Powell Obituary

Eunice T. Powell CHESAPEAKE - Eunice T. Powell, 72, of the 2800 block of Halsey St., passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with her loving children by her side. She was born Jan. 30, 1938 to the late Walter and Hattie Goodman. Eunice was a member of New Mount Olive AME Church, Chesapeake. She was a 1956 graduate of G.W. Carver High School, Chesapeake. She also attended CUNY at Baruch and Tidewater Community College. Eunice was employed as a test examiner for the Office of Personnel Management for a number of years and retired from Cox Enterprises as a senior sales representative. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Frank M. Powell and a sister, Betty G. Buffalow. Her precious memory will always remain with her loving children, Joey P. Powell of Chesapeake and Sharon D. Powell of Atlanta; sisters, Mayrose Moon, Arlonia Taylor Johnson, Marchetta Smith and Veora (Hiawatha) Harding; brothers, Walter L. Goodman and retired Col. Thaddious (Diainn) Goodman Sr.; a host of other close relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, May 24, at noon in New Mount Olive AME Church, 1953 Campostella Road, Chesapeake. Viewing will be held at the church Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. Interment will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is in charge.
