Mary L. Buchanan CHESAPEAKE - Mary Louise Buchanan (nee Palmer), 75, died in her Chesapeake home on June 3, 2010, surrounded by her children after a battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Hattie Palmer; first husband, Virgil Jack "Buck" Buchanan; and second husband, Jack Koeneman. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Betty Grove of Everett, Pa.; her children, Vicki Liffick of Norfolk, Jack Buchanan of Annandale, and Jill Danner of Chesapeake; a stepson, Jack Koeneman of San Leandro, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Justin, Matthew, and Lauren Liffick , Alexander and Aimee Buchanan, Shelbey Danner, and Claire Koeneman; two great-grandchildren, Haley Collier and Hayden Liffick; and countless dear friends. Mary Lou was born in Norfolk, graduated from Maury High School in 1952, enjoyed gardening and spent almost all of her life in Hampton Roads raising and supporting a family. She always was generous with others, taking care of her mother during her mother's long battle with Alzheimer's, and second husband during his decline while she fought cancer. A graveside service will be conducted Monday, June 7, at 10 a.m. in Colonial Grove Memorial Park with the Rev. Lorenzo Parker officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home. Great Bridge Chapel. The family asks that memorial donations be made in her name to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in recognition of her longstanding joy with children.
