Joseph Murphy Obituary

Joseph F. Murphy CHESAPEAKE - Joseph Francis "Skip" Murphy, 68, went to be with the Lord June 3, 2010 in Norfolk. A native of Torrington, Conn., he was the son of the late James and Nancy Tino Murphy and a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was retired as an electronic technician for the FAA. He was a courier for Monarch Bank and during tax season he worked for Amburn-Holbert Association. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Charlyne Matcefsky Murphy; a son, Michael P. Murphy and his wife Kerri of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Megan Murphy, Noah Murphy and Joey Murphy; and a cousin, John Pastore of Torrington, Conn. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, in Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, with Pastor Dave Libengood officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial donations to The American Heart Association or the Scleroderma Foundation by going to www.grahamfuneralhome.com where you may also light a candle and leave a note in his "Book of Memories."
