Carolyn Pope Obituary

C. Dawn Pope VIRGINIA BEACH - Carolyn Dawn Pope passed away at home July 2, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. A native of Virginia Beach, she was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Sr. and Francis Winslow and her brother, Allen Winslow. She is survived by her husband, Timothy L. Pope and son Eugene Shane Pope; two brothers, Wilbur "Teenie" Winslow Jr. and his wife Cindy, Michael Winslow; nieces and nephews, Whitney, Amy, Shannon, Mark, Jenifer and Stephen Winslow, and Thomas Pope. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Carol Pope who loved her like her own daughter; and in-laws, Tammy and Jen Winslow, Mike and Cathy Pope. The family would like to thank all of their friends for their prayers and support. With special thanks to Marilyn Fall for her love, compassion, and help and Rebecca Rymal for being here throughout this long hard battle. Thanks also to all the health care professionals who treated her with not just their minds, but also their hearts. Dawn's deep love, compassion, wisdom, and ability to see what was truly meaningful in life made her the person family and friends came to for help, comfort and clarity in life. Dawn worked in the health care field for over 20 years, most recently as office manager at Elder Care at Home where she worked tirelessly to improve the lives of all who needed help. Dawn loved her family, friends, and traveling. She has gone from our world, but only travels over the horizon to a place we can only imagine, full of people happy to see her again. A service celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, July 7, at 2 p.m. in Mount Pleasant Mennonite Church, 2021 Mount Pleasant Road, Chesapeake with the Rev. Frank Jennings officiating. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Lung Association (www.lungusa.org/donate). Online condolences may be made at www.familychoicefunerals.com.
