Edith Ross Obituary

Edith P. Ross PORTSMOUTH - Edith P. Ross, 89, went to be with the Lord Friday July 9, 2010. Mrs. Ross was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Ivy Ross Sr. and her parents, Billie and Ben Putman. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Ross Radford and her husband Jeff; son, Tom Ross Jr. and wife Lisbeth Eddy Ross; four grandchildren, Shawn Radford and wife Ellen, Chad Radford and wife Amanda, Meredith Stephens and her husband Drew and Brandon Ross; two great-grandchildren, Aidan Radford and Owen Stephens. She is also survived by her longtime friend and devoted companion, Alfred Ray Hedgepeth. The family would like to express their gratitude to his loving and supportive family. Edith was a loving and caring mother and friend to all and will be missed greatly by all who knew her. Mrs. Ross was a native of Portsmouth, a charter member of West Side Christian Church, a more than 50-year member of Esther Chapter No. 37 Order of the Eastern Star and past Worthy Matron, a member of the Scottish Rite Ladies, Beazley Senior Center, and the Churchland Seniors Group. Edith was employed at The Famous. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in West Side Christian Church by the Rev. Ken Bryant with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to West Side Christian Church in her memory and online condolences may be made at www. lovingfuneralhome.com.

Betsy,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother, Edith. I worked with her at the Famous and she was so kind and thoughtful, she was truly a good soul. I have thought of her time to time and my mother told me that she had passed away. You are in my thoughts and prayers
