Joseph Grant Obituary

Joseph R. Grant SEVERN - Joseph Rueben Grant passed away July 18, 2010 at the home of his daughter Betty Jo Bain. He enjoyed his retirement traveling with his wife, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren. Joe was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed. Grant and their mother, Kristi Griffin Grant, all of Virginia Beach; his daughter, Betty Jo Bain and her husband Walter P. Bain of Capron, Va.; three granddaughters and their families, Tiffany Anne Pecht and her husband Laine Pecht of Capron, Jessica Marilyn Hoffman and her husband Andrew and their son Grant Cole Hoffman, all of Culpepper, Va., and Alexandra McNeely Bustin and her son Hunter Lee Bustin of Courtland, Va. He is also survived by a sister, Emma Warren Martin of Conway and her children, Glenn Warren and Joanne Bass. A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. in Severn Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Hobbs presiding. Interment with military honors will follow in the Town of Severn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bridgers Funeral Home Inc. in Conway from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and have requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift in honor of Mr. Grant please do so to any Army Veterans Organization.

Betty Jo & Tommy,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. They didn't come any nicer than Joe Grant. He and Anne were so good to my mom, especially after my dad died. She'll be so sorry to hear he's gone. I will cherish the happy memories of your dad, including the VW Beetle he found for my first car (and oh, how I loved that car). My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.

What a wonderful piece of history shared in the newspaper, you should be humbly proud. God Bless you all! I will continue to pray for you on those quiet days of many shared memories.

Betty Jo and Tommy, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Joe. He and your mom were always so good to me when we were growing up. We had some really good times together. It is really sad that we all go seperate ways and don't keep in touch and that it takes a death to put things back into perspective. Our thoughts and prayers are with your whole family.
