Leonard Russell Obituary

Leonard E. Russell NORFOLK - Leonard Ensley Russell, 89, passed away in a Norfolk hospital July 16, 2010. He was a native of Norfolk and retired from the civil service. Leonard was a member of Bayview Christ United Methodist Church and was a World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran. He was the widower of Lenora Spangler Russell. He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Hill and husband Jim of Knotts Island, N.C. Also surviving are three sisters, Thelma Pearce and Colette McLaughlin, both of Norfolk, and Virgie DeFrancesca of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three grandchildren, Jimmy Hill and wife Janie, Christina Hill Leadbeater and husband John, and Rhonda Hill. Leonard was also survived by one great-grandchild, Dylan Hill, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Leonard W. Russell. A memorial service will be held at Bayview Christ United Methodist Church on Friday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Dr. Dan Abbott. Memorial donations may be made to Bayview Christ United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the care of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
