John Carvil Obituary

John J. Carvil III VIRGINIA BEACH - John Joseph Carvil III, 50, passed away Aug. 4, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. John was the son of Anne Carvil and the late Jack Carvil. He was a graduate of Kempsville High School, Class of 1978, the Virginia Military Institute, Class of 1982, and received his master's degree from Old Dominion University. He worked for SPAWAR Atlantic at Little Creek. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sue Ellen and his two exceptional sons, John Regan and Joe. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Anne Carvil; sisters, Jane Chudoba, her husband Alan and Catherine Murphy and her husband Terry; nephews, Alex and Mark Chudoba, Aidan Murphy; nieces, Grace Murphy, Emelie and Madeleine Price. John fought an 11-month battle with cancer and his family wishes to thank his mother-in-law, Bettie Westland, for her loving help. We also thank Dr. Michael Lee and Allison West of Virginia Oncology Associates for his medical care. John and his family had the support of a large network of friends and relatives over the past year and we thank them all. A celebration of John's life will be held Monday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. in Church of the Ascension, 4835 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Ascension or the American Cancer Society. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.
