Arthur Lee Pond Jr. NORFOLK - Arthur Lee Pond Jr. passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, at age 100. Having grown up in Norfolk, Arthur, affectionately known as "A.P.," was the son of the late Arthur L. Pond Sr. and Grace Nixon Pond. A graduate of Maury High School, he was active at Park Place Baptist Church and a Boy Scout. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) in 1932 with a degree in electrical and mechanical engineering. He worked for the Virginia Highway Commission in Richmond and was a member of Richmond's First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 71 years, Elizabeth Toler Pond. He is survived by his sister, Marian P. Taylor, who resides at Westminster-Canterbury in Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
