Norman Whittemore NORFOLK - Norman Lee "Toby" Whittemore, 92, of the 7400 block of Parkdale Drive, passed away Sept. 2, 2010 in a local hospital. Toby was the retired co-owner of Whitt's Esso Service Center for 34 years. He was a member of Fairmount Park UMC, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart recipient. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Whittemore of Norfolk; his granddaughter, Rachel C. Roberts of Frostburg, Md.; and his brother, Charles V. Whittemore of Wilmington, N.C. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Lilly B. Whittemore and granddaughter, Amy Robyn Bryant. Toby's wish to everyone: "Happy Motoring!" A graveside service will be conducted at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
