Donald R. Capps CHESAPEAKE - Donald R. Capps, 74, of the 300 block of Lenore Trail, died Sept. 4, 2010, in his home. He was born in Dunn, N.C., and was the son of the late Jasper and Pearl Capps. Donald was a retired claims manager with Allstate and a veteran of both the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force. He was a member of DeBaum Memorial Baptist Church and the Doric Masonic Lodge, No. 44 AF & AM. Donald is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Capps; seven children, Allan R. Capps of Chesapeake, Michelle Arnot of Florida, Belinda Foutz of Chesapeake, Scott Capps of Portsmouth, Bryan Gomer of Suffolk, Lance Gomer of Suffolk and Stacy Gomer of Chesapeake; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Minnie Capps of Chesapeake; a brother, James Preston Capps of Montana; and lifetime friends, Christine Stutz and Dennis G. Creasy. He was predeceased by a son, Donald R. Capps Jr. A funeral and Masonic rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, by the Pastor Chuck Mann. Burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
