Jean Elliott Obituary

Jean M. Elliott PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Jean M. Elliott, 77, died Aug. 30, 2010 at her home, "Portsmouth." She was born Dec. 22, 1932. She retired from the Pines Treatment Center with 21 years of service. She was a faithful member of Third Baptist Church and served with Missionary, Gospel Choir and Jolly Workers until her health declined. She also reared her children in Third Baptist as well. She was a loving and very giving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Mae Allen and her two sisters, Audrey Daniels and Delores Thorne. She is survived by one brother, James Basemore; and one cousin, Shirley McDowell. She also leaves to cherish her memory five sons, Tony Bazemore, Ollice Elliott Jr., Edward Elliott Sr., Ronald Elliott and Lloyd Elliott; three daughters, Sharon Holloman, Victoria Redcross and Virgie Elliott; two sons-in-law; five daughters-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and a faithful loving caregiver, Ms. Tina Lawton. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Third Baptist Church, 461 Godwin St., Portsmouth, VA 23704 with Pastor Joe B. Fleming officiating. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge.
