C. Little Obituary

C. Malcolm Little Jr. RICHMOND - C. Malcolm Little Jr., 91, passed away peacefully at his home Sept. 3, 2010. He was preceded in death by his son, C. Malcolm Little III. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lucile "Rickie" Little; his son Malcolm's children, Malcolm IV and his wife Kelly, Ben and Kate; son, Lewis R. Little and his wife Sally and their children Lewis Jr., Tyler and Mollie; son, Lloyd T. Little and his wife Tracy and their children Talbott Jr., Gray, Logan and Isabella; daughter, Liza Little Roberts and her husband Sterling and their children, Cricket and Douglas; daughter, Barbara Little Alexander and her husband Burt and their children Pam Varnier, Mary Frances Pair and Burt Jr.; daughter, Bunny Little Addison and her husband Ned and their children Anne Clarke Lagarde, Martha Meade Weaver and Lucy Page Williams; his sister, Lucy Little Keel; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Little Slovic and Anne Beverley Little Ward. Mr. Little was a Class of 1939 graduate of Virginia Military Institute. After graduation, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant with the Second Cavalry of the Third Army under Gen. Patton. He joined the offensive in France, moved to Germany and then to Czechoslovakia, where he was when the war ended. After the war, he joined the family business, Little Oil Company, where he worked for more than 40 years and served as president from 1950 until his retirement in 1987. He was a board member of Virginia Petroleum Jobbers and served on many other industry related associations. He was a member of the Country Club of Virginia, The Commonwealth Club, Princess Anne Country Club and Captains. He enjoyed summers at Virginia Beach and his winters at Boca Grande, Fla., with his family. Golf with his friends was a lifelong passion that he also shared with his wife, and later in life, he enjoyed coffee and socializing at the fitness center. "Big Daddy," as his grandchildren fondly called him, especially enjoyed attending their numerous activities. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 12291 River Road, Richmond, VA 23238. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VMI, St. Mary's Episcopal Church or The Collegiate Schools.
