Myrtle Gardner Obituary

Myrtle W. Gardner CARRSVILLE - Myrtle Virginia Winslow Gardner, 88, widow of Lawrence Earl Gardner Sr., died Sept. 6, 2010 at the East Pavilion. She was born in North Carolina, a daughter of the late Mattie Stallings and Nathan Frank Winslow Sr. and was predeceased by a sister, Sybil W. Winslow; and four brothers, Thurman B. Winslow, Alma H. "Joe" Winslow, Nathan F. "Pete" Winslow, Jr. and Raymond, S. Winslow; and a stepson, Lawrence Earl Gardner Jr. Mrs. Gardner was a retired paper inspector for Union Camp Corporation with 26 years service and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Shelby Jean "Amber" Gardner of Virginia Beach; a son, Earl Randy Gardner of Carrsville; two grandchildren, James Gardner Matthews of Suffolk and Audra Leigh Gardner of Carrsville; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Ashley Matthews of Suffolk; a sister, Daphne W. Rhodes Hopkins of Battleboro, N.C.; two stepgrandsons, Bob and Larry Gardner, both of Carrsville; and two stepgranddaughters, Katie Schucker of Chesapeake and Joanne Carpenter of Elizabeth City, N.C. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Richard Peerey and Mr. Clifford S. Winslow officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at Mrs. Gardner's residence, on Community House Drive in Carrsville.
