Stephen Gray Obituary

Stephen Kirk Gray SUFFOLK - Stephen Kirk Gray, a native of Suffolk, died Sept. 7, 2010 in Crystal River, Fla. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Edith Gray. He is survived by his beloved partner, Deanna Bowen; two aunts, Merlen Lassiter and Bettie Allen; two uncles, Hugh Gray and Lewis Harrup; and cousins Barbara Babb, Ruan Harbour, Roger and Robin Bishop, Glenn and Trent Harrell, Pamela Askew, Jeffrey Gray, Cynthia Ward, Bill Culverhouse; and lifelong friend, Jay Butler. Steve graduated from Nansemond Suffolk Academy in 1973 and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprentice School. He was an avid fisherman and left Suffolk in the late 80s to pursue his dream and became a charter boat aptain in the Florida Keys. His love and knowledge of fishing provided him and his charter customers many great fishing experiences for more than 20 years. Steve could fish 365 days a year. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. His family will hold a memorial celebration on Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. at the home of Joan and Glenn Harrell in Suffolk. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
