Thomas Nau Obituary

Thomas Edward Nau TIPTON, Iowa - Thomas Edward Nau, 77, passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 after a long battle with emphysema and asbestosis. Tom retired as a chief petty officer after serving 20 years in the Navy. Following his military career, he became a master craftsman at restoring antique automobiles. His excellent body and painting skills made him very well known in Virginia and all over the United States. He loved antique car shows, fishing, camping, and his frequent visits to Herbs to enjoy his favorite homemade banana pudding. He leaves behind a daughter, Lynn Montalvo, and a son, Randy Nau. His parents and his son, Ronnie Urbani, preceded him in death. Tom spent the majority of his adult life in Virginia, and his last two years in Tipton, Iowa. It was his 32-year marriage to Ruth M. Nau that provided him with the following son by marriage, Kenneth Wilson, and daughters, JoAnn Harfst, Vicki Farwell and Janet Hord. Thomas also left behind 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was dearly loved by all of his family and has been greatly missed. Memorial services are being held Saturday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, Iowa. The families in Virginia will be donating to the American Lung Association in remembrance of a man they hold close to their hearts.
