Helen Simmons Obituary

Helen Simmons VIRGINIA BEACH - On Sept. 14, 2010, Helen Simmons was called home to rest in peace by one of God's Angels. Helen was predeceased by her husband the late Earl "El" Simmons. Helen was born on March 1, 1922 to the late Robert and Pauline Nixon. She is survived by her children, Irene Edward of New York, Pearl Nichols, Helen Olds, Vera Simmons, Ivy Simmons, all of Virginia Beach, and Nanette Hall of Chesapeake, sons Robert Nixon, Earl Simmons Jr., Marvin Simmons, Gary Simmons, all of Chesapeake, and Lindsey Simmons of Virginia Beach and Fred Simmons of North Carolina; two sisters, Pauline Smith and Pennie Larrimore of Chesapeake; 28 grandchildren, 43 great- grandchildren, 12 great- great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, at 12:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Hickory, 3841 Bunch Walnuts Road, Chesapeake. Interment will follow in the Nixon Family Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends for remembrance and visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Beach Funeral & Cremation Services Inc. at Town Center, 4456 Bonney Road, Virginia Beach. www.beachfuneralandcremationservices.com.
