Ethelen Watson Obituary

Ethelen D. Watson PORTSMOUTH - Ethelen Delores "Mama D" Watson, 78, of the 1000 block of Palmer St., died Sept. 18, 2010 in her residence. A native of Portsmouth, she had retired in 1986 after 30 years of service as an inventory management specialist with NNSY. Mrs. Watson was a faithful member of Emaunuel AME Church in Portsmouth, where she was a trustee emeritus and a member of Martha Chapter No. 10, Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past matron. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, William W. Watson Jr.; two sons, William W. Watson III (Debra) of Augusta, Ga., and Jerry M. Watson of Portsmouth; one sister, Frankie Nixon of California; one brother, Vernon Crump Jr. (Esther) of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Ebony M. Watson, Krystle N. Watson, Jerry G. Watson; devoted nieces, Deborah Goodrich and Dr. C. Robin Nottingham; numerous other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Thursday in Emanuel AME Church with the Rev. Granger Hythe officiating. Fisher Funeral Home, 1520 Effingham St., Portsmouth, is in charge. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Mr & Mrs. Watson and family,
May your love for Mama D, fill your hearts with many loving and wonderful memories. Her spirt will forever burn in your hearts. My prayer and thoughts are with you and your family during your time of sorrow.

"Mama D" as she was affectionately called was a very nice person. She was truly a prayer worrier for the Lord. She loved her family especially "J". The Waston family will be in our thoughts and prayers. The Ransom Family.
