Mary Fenlon Obituary

Mary Jane K. Fenlon VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary Jane Kinkaid "Janie" Fenlon, 83, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Janie was a longtime resident of Virginia Beach. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, retired U.S. Navy Capt. Leslie K. Fenlon Jr. of Virginia Beach; a son, Leslie K. Fenlon III of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandsons, Nathan L. Miller and Kenneth Miller and two granddaughters, Katrina S. Fenlon and Alison M. Fenlon; a great-grandson, Elias Miller. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Ann Miller of Newark, Del. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Beach SPCA online at vbspca.com or at 3040 Holland Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23453. Janie was a proud graduate of Friends Central High School in Philadelphia, and attended the University of Delaware. Janie was involved in numerous philanthropic endeavors during her life including working with paraplegics and orphans in Seoul, Korea and managing the Women's Job Corps in the Tidewater area. She also worked with the black youth in Montgomery, Ala., and was most proud of the hundreds of hours she spent working with Navy Relief. There will be no local services. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chape, handled arrangements.
