Katherine Harris Obituary

Katherine L. Harris CHESAPEAKE - Katherine Louise Harris of the 200 block of Shoreside Drive departed this life Sept. 29, 2010. Katherine was the daughter of the late Eddie Clay Harris and Geneva Harris. She was educated in the public schools of Chesapeake. Soon after graduating from Crestwood High School in 1960, she ventured to Washington, D.C. Katherine was a long standing member of New Mount Olive Baptist Church, and years ago, she sang in the choir. She retired from Virginia Beach Public Schools after 18 years of service in 2006. Katherine is survived by one son, Clinton (Robbyn) of Jessup, Md.; and one daughter, Kathy (Vincent) of Derwood, Md.; four grandchildren, Shamika, Kevin II, Clinton II and Kaicee. She is also survived by her mother, Geneva Harris; four sisters, Golethia Nanches of Washington, Eva Hampton (Lorenzo) of West Palm Beach, Fla., Beatrice Harris and Gloria Cuffee of Chesapeake; four brothers, Willis Harris (Barbara) of Fort Pierce, Fla., Ulysees Harris of Fort Washington, Md., Lee Otis Harris and Nathaniel Harris (Barbara) of Chesapeake; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Harris of Portsmouth, Rose Harris of South Mill, N.C., and Ann Harris of Hampton; aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in New Mount Olive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. in Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. We invite you to send a condolence message to the family's guestbook at www.pretlowandsons.com.
