Willie Harrison Obituary

Willie L. Harrison NORFOLK - Willie L. Harrison, 88, of the 900 block of Philpotts Road, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at Harbour Pointe Rehabilitation Center. Born June 11, 1922, in Southampton County, he was the husband of the late Ida Warren Harrison. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and a retired civil service worker of the transportation department at Fort Eustis. For years he owned and managed his own lawncare service. He is survived by his nephew, James (Eleanor) Harrison, Richmond; niece, J. Harrison (Neil) Coleman, Bristow, Va.; brother-in-law, Marvin (Elva) Warren, Portsmouth; and friend, Nell Roberts, Ivor, Va.; cousins, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends. He had been a member of Queen Street Baptist Church for more than 65 years and served as a deacon for approximately 50 years. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. in Friday, Oct. 8, at Queen Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Glenn Porter officiating. Burial at Beulah Land AMEZ cemetery, Ivor. www.halefuneralhome.com.
