Drusilla Young Obituary

Drusilla Lyn Young WILLIAMSBURG - Drusilla Lyn "Lyndsey" Young, 66, of Torrington, Conn., passed away in Williamsburg Oct. 3, 2010. Lyn was the first child born to Victor H. Young, M.D., (deceased) and Mary Goth Young of Hyde Park, N.Y., July 5, 1944 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She is survived by her mother; her sister, Deborah Tribble, (Danville, Va.); her brother, Stephen Young (Connecticut); many nieces and nephews, including, Bambi and Rob Walters (Williamsburg), Heidi Faivre (Santa Cruz, Calif.), Charity Sorey (Danville), Clifford Tribble (Chesapeake) and Christopher Berlin (West Field, Mass.) and their children; and other family members who remember Lyn for her "I can" attitude. Lyn is remembered as a vocal advocate for patient rights, an avid card player and lifelong learner of literature and history. She grew up in Canton, Conn., and enjoyed spending time with her many aunts, uncles and cousins at the family farm in the Catskill Mountains. Lyn loved her mother's cooking and enjoyed gardening. She attended her first year of college at the University of Oklahoma, later attended and graduated as a flight attendant and thereafter followed up with her Associates in Arts from the Hartford Community College. Over the last 15 years, Lyn lived in Torrington, Conn., and was a lifetime member of Prime Time House. She frequently volunteered driving and caring for others and she proudly considered herself as a member of the working disabled. Memorial services will be conducted at The Envoy of Williamsburg on Friday, Oct. 8, with the Chaplain David Lekarczyk for Heartland Hospice Services presiding. The family will have a private memorial thereafter in New York and dedicate her ashes to the peaceful Catskill Mountains. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lyn may be made to the Prime Time House, 836 Main St., Torrington, CT 06790. Online condolences may be registered at www.bucktroutfuneralhome.net.
