David Bosomworth Obituary

David Bosomworth ELIZABETH CITY - Retired U.S. Coast Guard Capt. David Palliser Bosomworth, 79, of the 300 block of Breezewood Drive died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Palliser and Vera Thompson Bosomworth. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis N. Bosomworth; two children, Molly Hamilton and her husband William and Will Nixon and his wife Erin; a brother, Dr. Peter Bosomworth PPB, MD Chancellor Emeritus University of Kentucky Medical Center and his wife Jody; and grandchildren, Anne, Evva and Hythe Hamilton. Born in Akron, Ohio, he was a graduate of Kent State University and received an MBA from the University of Michigan. He served 23 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as the commanding officer of the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Air Station in 1976. He was active in the community and served on many civic and public boards. Dave's quiet but indomitable presence and his innate wisdom and wit will be missed by all who loved him. A memorial service will be Sunday, Oct. 10, at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Frese officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence and immediately after the service in the Asbury Room of the church. Memorial donations may be made to First UMC, P.O.
