Mary Hampton Obituary

Mary Bettie Hampton PORTSMOUTH - Mary Bettie Hampton, 72, quietly passed away Oct. 7, 2010. She is at peace with the Lord now! Mary was native of South- ampton County. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Ella Mae Joyner; six children, Robin Brown-Holt (Ron), Diann Holmes, Gloria Waters, Clinton Hampton (Tina), Ursula Adams-Salley (Aubrey), Sterling Hampton, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a special aunt, Jeanette Bell and cousin Elsie Mae Reid, also mourning her loss, her ex-husband and lifelong friend, Charles Lyons and a host of other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Clinton Hampton. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fairwood Agape Baptist Church, Portsmouth. Viewing will begin Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. with a wake service from 6 to 7 p.m. Steele-Bullock Funeral Home, 3950 Turnpike Road, Portsmouth, is handling the arrangements. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at the residence for the procession to the church.
