Hazel Matthews Obituary

Hazel S. Matthews PORTSMOUTH - Hazel Smith Matthews, 87, of the 1100 block of Melvin Drive, passed away Friday, Oct. 8, 2010. She retired from Western Branch High School as assistant cafeteria manager and was a member of Greenlakes Baptist Church where she was involved with the Young at Heart Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Willard M. Matthews. She is survived by her son, John W. Matthews and his wife Mary of Chesapeake; a sister, Nancy S. Rogers and her husband Hal of Suffolk; two grandchildren, Michael Matthews and Kristin Matthews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Dwight Buchholz. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
