Celia Hornor Obituary

Celia Theresa Hornor VIRGINIA BEACH - Celia Theresa Hornor, 90, died Oct. 9, 2010, at Bayside Sentara Hospital, Virginia Beach. She enjoyed a full, vibrant life until a few days before her death. Born May 11, 1920, in Hartford, Conn., she was the daughter of Julia and "Benny" Jendrucek. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Hornor, who died in 1999. They had been married for 57 years. William "Jake" Hornor and Cele lived most of their years happily on a farm in Carlisle, Pa. While there, they developed many wonderful friendships. Later, after moving to Virginia Beach, they were blessed to meet new people and neighbors, and once again formed special friendships. Surviving are her sister- in-law, Maureen Nash Jendrucek; three children, Sharon H. Butts and her husband Edward of Virginia Beach, William E. Hornor Jr., and his wife Lucy of Yorktown, Va., and Tappan T. Hornor and his wife Denise of Sinaloa, Mexico. Celia had nine grandchildren, Jeffery H. Butts, Holly E. Schulz, Michael B. Butts, Leslie C. Morton, Cody J. Hornor, Stephanie C. Keith, Tappan J. Hornor, Brian R. Hornor and Paul W. Hornor. She was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren. The entire family will always cherish wonderful memories of their caring mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She will be interred at the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, Pa., Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. A celebration of her life service will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. in Old Donation Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert Randall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Old Donation Episcopal Church, 4449 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
