Paul Wise Obituary

Paul William Wise PORTSMOUTH - Paul William Wise, 74, of the 4600 block of Hunters Point Drive, died Oct. 15, 2010 in the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond. A native of Deep Creek, Mr. Wise retired as an inspector with the Virginia Department of Transportation after 41½ years and was a member of Deep Creek United Methodist Church. He was the son of Anna Mae Wise of Deep Creek and the late Paul Russell Wise. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanette L. Wise; two sons, William "Stephen" Wise of Richmond and Kent Lawson Wise and wife Becky of The Woodlands, Texas; and four grandchildren, Fielder, Mahaley, Katie and Dylan Wise. A funeral will be held Monday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. The Rev. Tom Potter will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in Peters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawsonville, N.C., at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.

Condolences from Janie Leary (deceased), Nellie M. Norris, and Peggy L. Holloway. We knew Paul for many years and valued him. He would stop to see Mother from time to time, so we kept up with him these last 50 years. He was a good man. A good man.
