I don't know if nine years is too late, but only today I learned of Perry' passing. Although I was in Perry's class of 1974, I moved from Virginia to Florida in 1972, and unfortunately Perry and I lost touch. I played school sports with Perry and recall him as being one of the premier athletes in our school. He was also a great friend and I can't imagine the sadness his passing caused to his friends and family. He was a wonderful guy and I'll always cherish the time we spent together.

I am so sorry to hear of Perry's passing. He was my mentor teachor as well as my department head at Virgina Beach Central Academy. I considered him a friend as well as an overwhelming influence during those first years of teaching. His influence on the world will be greatly missed.

He always treated his "special" students with such caring. It was a joy to watch him during instruction. He always greeted with a smile and made every day enjoyable at school. I worked closely with Perry as a teacher and fellow department chair during my 5 years at what was then Virginia Beach Central Academy. We served some of the same students. I always felt very comfortable recommending students for Perry's Building Maintenance Program because he always put them first. I lived across the street from Perry for many years. He was a wonderful neighbor who always had a beautiful smile and a willing hand to help. He was never in too big of a hurry that he couldn't take time for a friendly chat. He was a hard worker who encouraged many students to reach beyond their self-perceived obstacles. He provided a great role model from which students could pattern their own lives for success. That will be Perry's greatest legacy and it will live on for generations.
Perry's family is in my thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort in knowing you will one day be reunited. God bless!

I was privileged to be a neighbor of Perry Hill's at his current home for over ten years. He is the kind of neighbor you could call on whenever you needed a little assistance. He was always friendly, kind, socialable, caring, and hard working. He kept his car and home looking the best. I saw him running or riding bikes on numerous occassions. Perry always took the time to stop and acknowledge another's presence. He had a very dignified way about himself, but especially about how he treated others. By passionately teaching and caring for the the younger generation and consistently providing them with a strong role model Perry has provided a legacy for generations to come.

So sorry to hear of Perry's passing. We went to school together in Thoroughgood Elementary and Cox High School. I used to live in Bayville Park between First Court Road and Shore Drive. The times we had with the Arnolds, Hawks and Hills are fond memories! I will always remember the fun times he made for all of us in High School and his Football... and his Afro! Rest in Peace Perry.

I am at a loss for words to read about your husband's demise. How extremely sad that he left us at such a young age. I remember working with Perry at the Career Development Center back in the 80s and remember what a fine gentleman he was ALWAYS so polite and personable and loved everyone. Perry saw me at a function awhile back and came up to me and we spoke for a few minutes. I could not believe he remembered me!

"I have known Perry for a long time and the one part of his personality I will never forget," the SMILE. I was suprised to hear of Perry's passing... I knew him from high school and he was one of the most respected people there. I'd always wondered where he went. I'd heard he was teaching but didn't know where.

My Dad, Jefferson Davis, was Perry's principal at Cox, and Perry was one of his all-time favorites. It's obvious from all the glowing comments from colleagues and friends that Perry lived up to all the potential my father saw in him. I'm terribly sorry for your loss.

Mr. Hill was not only an amazing Teacher, he was also a mentor and friend to all of his students. He loved and respected each and every one of them and encouraged them to reach for the stars. He taught them that their disabilities were obstacles that would only stop them from achieving success if they let them. My son Irvin was blessed to have been in your class. He spoke of you every day and learned so much from you. You gave him the confidence he needed to be able to overcome so much. I remember our phone conversation and all the advice you gave me for my son. I will do all that you said and pray that you know his success is because of you and his desire to make you proud of him. Mr. Hill was my reason for getting out of bed and on the bus on time every morning. I looked forward to being part of his class every day. He always had a great morning planned for us. He treated us like family and even thought of me on my recent birthday by bringing a cake into the class to celebrate. I was so glad to be in his class this year. I was blessed to have worked with Perry for more than 20 yrs at Central Academy. He was a gift to the children, a patient, caring person who always loved his job-no matter how hard the day. He always had a smile.

Perry was always a super likeable young man when we went to Cox High School together. And a heck of a football player. He was one year ahead of me. I don't think I ever saw him without that great smile on his face. My sincerest condolences to his family.

His legacy will move on to the hearts and lives of all people he had touched. He had touched my life and had always been there for my family specially when I needed him the most. He mowed our grass, dig and prepared the backyard for my mom's garden and took good care of my sister and all his extended family and friends. I always thought Perry was a great person. I could tell me made you totally happy and that made the rest of us happy for you as well. I was just as shocked as everyone else was to hear of his passing being that he was in such great shape. I don't have the right words to make you feel better, Leila.
