Ted Pollard Obituary

Ted C. Pollard Sr. CHESAPEAKE - Ted Crandle Pollard Sr., 76, passed away in his residence Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer. Ted was born April 21, 1934 in Pitt County, North Carolina. He retired from the engineering department of Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. in 1988, and was a member of the Ambassador Club of Portsmouth since November 1966. Ted was a die-hard Redskins fan who loved NASCAR and golf and touched the lives of many people he met; and will be missed by everyone. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tedie and Roma Pollard; a brother, Max Pollard; and a sister, Willa Peaden. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dot Hundley Pollard; two sons, Ted Pollard Jr. and wife Christine and John Pollard and wife Heidi; two sisters, Ruth Borjes and Grace Whitehurst; a brother, Frank Pollard and wife Doris; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Pollard and Joann Jones and husband Mike; six grandchildren, Courtney, Trey, JB, Briley, Kala and Blasi; two great- grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Suffolk, by the Rev. H. B. Jackie Allen Jr. The family will receive friends immediately following the service Monday at the Ambassadors Club, 364 Peninsula Ave., Portsmouth, VA 23704. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling these arrangements. Sorry to here about the passing of Mr. Pollard. My parent's use to live across the street from the Pollards when I was a child. Johnny was my childhood buddy. My prayers are with the family at this most difficult time. May God bless all of you.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ted Pollard. He was a very kind person. Years ago, I use to babysit for him for his sons. Ted Pollard Jr. - my brother Jeff Anderson use to be real close friends.
