Leslie Edwards Obituary

Leslie D. Edwards Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Leslie Durward Edwards Jr. died Oct. 22, 2010. He was always "Derry" to his family and friends. Derry was born in Raleigh, N.C., Sept. 26, 1936 to Leslie D. Edwards Sr. and Louise Bergeron Edwards. The son of a Coast Guard officer, Derry grew up all over the country, but his roots were in the south. He graduated from Fishburne Military Academy, and he spent his adult life in Virginia Beach and Norfolk. He managed and ran Virginia Materials Corporation until his retirement. Derry enjoyed many activities. He was a longtime member of the Virginia Beach Shag Club and Bayville Golf Club. At various points during his life he raced cars, sailed boats and piloted his own plane. Derry's family was small, but close knit. He will be loved and remembered by two daughters, Kelly Edwards MacDonald and husband Douglas, and Alisa Edwards Frenck and husband Eric as well as two grandchildren, Eleanore and Ian Frenck. Arrangements are being handled by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, and a service will be held at Princess Anne Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26. Memorials may be made to Fishburne Military Academy or to any charity of the donor's choice.

Dads are never forgotten, but your dad's message will live on in the lives of those left behind. But dads are very missed. May God fill up that empty spot with His Presence in the coming weeks.
