D. Welch Obituary

D. Keith Welch CHESAPEAKE - D. Keith Welch, 52, of Gibson Drive went to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010. Born in Norfolk, he was the beloved son of William T. "Bill" and June A. Welch. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Joseph B. and Edna I. Altice and paternal grandparents, James A. and Ruth B. Welch and uncles, Joseph B. Altice Jr. and wife Dawn and James H. Welch. Keith was a 1976 graduate of Great Bridge High School and later earned a degree in civil/environmental engineering from Old Dominion University. He was employed by Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Keith was an avid NASCAR fan and loved his "Red Corvette." Mechanically minded, he could do most anything with automobiles and computers. He was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him. Including his parents, Keith is survived by aunt, Patti Pluess and husband Arnie of Chesapeake; an uncle, Jim Altice and friend Brenda Highton of Virginia Beach; cousins, Mark Altice and wife Lorri, Marshall Altice and wife Debbie, Kris Altice and wife Jenni, Dawn McElroy and husband Brian, Ben Asby, Melinda Tucker and husband Scott, Missy Greene, Jamie Welch and Amy Wilson; as well as many stepcousins and extended family. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 29, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Charles L. Moseley, Dr. Will Langford and the Rev. Allen Campbell will officiate. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The viewing will begin Friday with the family receiving friends from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International. Friends are also invited to send condolences and sign the online guestbook at www.omanfh.com.

Dear June and Bill,
I want to send you my deepest sympathy on the loss of your son. I never new Keith, but he must have been a wonderful person because you are both extraordinary people. Mr. and Mrs.Welch
I went to school with Keith and to Great Bridge Baptist for many years. I am so sorry for your lost. I knew him well years ago...I know he is with our Lord now. He is at rest. We will see him again. You are in my prayers.

I never knew Keith very well but if he was anything like his amazing mom and dad then I know he was a truly wonderful person. I am so sorry for your loss. Parents should never have to loose a child, no matter what age. You are in my thoughts and prayers! Love you both!
