Claire Hunter Obituary

Claire R. Hunter SUFFOLK - Claire Rhodes Hunter, 80, passed away Oct. 30, 2010 in Suffolk. She was the daughter of the late Shafter S. Rhodes and Mary S. Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarvis B. Hunter and two brothers, Charlie J. Rhodes and Raymond S. Rhodes. She is survived by nephews and nieces, James S. Rhodes, William B. Hunter, George T. Powell, Carroll Brinkley, Charla R. Johnson and Patricia H. Smith; cousins, Jean T. Joyner, Robert C. Turner and Catherine Sightier; and a very special grandniece, Rebecca C. Smith. A graveside funeral will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. in Holly Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Willis I. Dowling. Relatives and friends will be received from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. before the graveside service in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of donations to the Building Fund of Cypress Chapel Christian Church, 1891 Cypress Chapel Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
