R. Johns Obituary

R. Chad Johns CHESAPEAKE - R. Chad Johns, 58, of the 600 block of Stoneleigh Court, went to be with the Lord Nov. 1, 2010 in Chesapeake. A native of Cadillac, Mich., he was the son of the late Kent and Alles Chambers Johns. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Ryan Johns and brother, Matthew Johns. He served his country in the United States Navy and owned and operated his own accounting firm. Chad was the former president of Manistee Chamber of Commerce, the former chairman of the Republican Party of Manistee, Mich., and an active member of Sovereign Grace Church, Chesapeake. A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anne Marie Host Johns; a daughter, Katie Johns Thomas and her husband Sean; two sons, Kris Johns and his wife Amanda, and Matt Johns; grandchildren, Ryan, Trevor, Anderson, Caius, Ben, Liam and Iva Mae; and brothers, Ted Johns, Jeff Johns; sisters, Janie Franson and Susan Kucharek; and stepmother, Barbara Johns. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Sovereign Grace Church, 508 N. Centerville Turnpike, Chesapeake, with the Rev. Eric Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
