Joann Onspaugh Obituary

Joann Onspaugh SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Joann Ruth Allinger Onspaugh, 83, passed away Oct. 30, 2010. Born in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Chauncy and Grace Allinger. Joann was a member of Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, and retired after 28 years of dedicated service as the secretary of the church. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Pamela Ann McDaniel of Sevierville; two sons, Terrence Lee Onspaugh of Goose Creek, S.C., and Charles Edward Onspaugh Jr. of Sevierville; three grandchildren, Kimberly D. Onspaugh Truslow and her husband Kevin of Maumelle, Ark., Karen D. Onspaugh Pope and her husband Jason of Winnsboro, S.C., and Katherine D. Onspaugh of Hanahan, S.C.; three great-grandchildren, Kemp Truslow, Emma Grace Pope and Hennis Jason Pope III; brother, Clyde Onspaugh and his wife Barbara of Akron, Ohio; sister-in-law, Carol Allinger of Charleston, S.C.; and special friends, Betty and Claude Jordan of Loveland, Colo., and Cheryl and Frank Andreus of Fayetteville, Pa. Joann was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles Edward Onspaugh Sr.; daughter, Susan Elaine Onspaugh; her sister, Beatrice Elaine Allinger Marable and her husband Newton; her brother, William Neal Allinger; and grandparents, Mae and Peter Allinger, and Laura and Neal Hardy. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Haygood United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach with the Rev. Charles Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Haygood United Methodist Church and/or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
