Victoria Wilson Obituary

Victoria E. Wilson SUFFOLK - Victoria Elizabeth Wilson passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was born in Suffolk (Hobson) May 12, 1922 to Johnny and Louvenia Allen Wilson. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 53 years, John Lee Wilson; parents and all siblings except one brother. Having attended the public schools of Suffolk and having been taught by her parents, she was a woman who was very knowledgeable in the things of life which she passed on to her children. She grew up in Macedonia Baptist Church where she served as an usher, a member of the Pastor's Aid, and a member of the Senior Choir. In her later years, she joined Little Bethel Baptist Church. She was retired from Planters Peanut Company after numerous years of employment. Her prior employment included Smithfield Packing Company and Lummis Peanut Company. Victoria was a fashionista, known for her coordinated hat, dresses, suits and accessories. She will forever remain in our hearts. A special thank you to the caregivers and staff of Autumn Care of Suffolk. Cherishing her memory are her children: Mary W. Copeland (Leon), Sevella W. Barcliff, and Victoria W. Holliman (the Rev. Nonnie), Virnest L. Wilson (Betty, and the Rev. Kevin E. Wilson (Ollie); 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Pope (Connie); 11 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and friends. The celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Little Bethel Baptist Church, 6533 Everets Road, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Bernard Thomas. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 4, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Crocker Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
