James Wilkerson Sr. CHESAPEAKE - James P. Wilkerson Sr., 82, of the 2400 block of River Oaks Drive, passed away Nov. 3, 2010 in his home. A native of Mebane, N.C., he was a retired truck driver with Teamsters Local 822. He was a member of Christ Community Church, life member of Moose Lodge 898 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his son and three daughters, Claude Wilkerson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Norie Prince of Mebane, N.C., Bettie Twitchell of Midland, Texas, and Pat Larson of Chesapeake; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who affectionately called him Paw Paw; and a sister, Ethel Drake of Roxboro, N.C. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret S. Wilkerson and his son, James P. Wilkerson Jr. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with Pastor Larry D. Renfrow officiating. The entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
