Marion Turley Obituary

Marion C. Turley MOYOCK - Formerly of Moyock and Virginia Beach, Marion C. "Bob" Turley, 80, passed Nov. 1, 2010 in San Diego from natural causes. Bob grew up in Central City, Ky. Bob joined the Navy and rose from enlisted ranks to become a United States naval officer. His last duty station was running the Navy Exchange Complex at Norfolk Naval Base. Bob and his wife Joyce retired in Moyock. Above all, Bob was a giver. He was always willing to help a friend or family member in their time of need. He was a great father. He spoke with his kids on an almost daily basis. He was always there for his kids and grandkids. For Pop, family always came first. He is survived by his sister, Rebecca Peters from Illinois; daughter, Joyce Hodges from Virginia Beach; son, Bill Turley from San Diego; and his daughter-in-law, Brenda Turley-Renfrow from Bowling Green, Ky.; and 10 grandchildren, Rickie, Kyle, Katie, Jessica, Emily, Samuel, Jet, Abigail, Kaila and Waian; and one great-grandchild, Ayden. A funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church St., Elizabeth City. Burial will follow in Moyock Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 6 p.m. You may express condolences to the Turley family by visiting www.twifordfh.com.
