Nellie Hart Obituary

Nellie Orndorf Hart NORFOLK - Nellie Orndorf Hart, 97, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, in a local hospital. Nellie Orndorf Hart was born Feb. 11, 1913, in New Straitsville, Ohio. She was educated in local schools and after graduating from high school entered nurses' training. She married Everett Lee Hart of Eagleville, Mo., in 1933. They later settled in Norfolk, where she lived the rest of her life. Mrs. Hart was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a devoted teacher of a women's Sunday school Bible class for many years. She was a member of the Belvedere Garden Club, also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Virginia Chapter No. 22, where she served as Worthy Matron in from 1975 to 1976. Mrs. Hart was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Nellie Stephenson Orndorf; brothers, Raymond, Clyde and Delbert Orndorf and her sister, Mildred Orndorf Timms. Survivors include her daughter, Annabeth Grove, of South Carolina; a grandson, Sean Peters of New Hampshire; granddaughter, Marci Rauch of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Annabeth Carlene Henderson of Minnesota and Megan Brielle Rauch of Florida; one nephew, Donald Deweese; a niece, Nancy Peugh of Indiana; and a nephew, Jack Rizer of New Jersey. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Carper officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Special thanks are extended to the nursing staff of Lake Taylor Hospital for their care and kindnesses.
