Doris Cobb Obituary

Doris Mizelle Cobb SMITHFIELD - Doris Mizelle Cobb passed away Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at the age of 92. She was a native of Edenton, N.C., and a Hampton resident for 61 years. Doris was a homemaker and a member of Hampton Roads Baptist Church where she was active in the Women's Missionary Union, Nonie Gravatt Circle, and Operation Care. She is preceded in rest by her husband, Dennis L. Cobb; sisters, Vera Ward, Louise Evans and Mary Zeitfuss; father, Paul L. Mizelle; and mother, Garcia Olivia Mizelle. Doris is survived by her son, George Cobb and wife Terry; daughters, Janet Corbett and husband Rick, and Kay Rawls and husband David; grandchildren, Tammy Erwin, Jennifer Gurden, and Joel Krueger; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Erwin, Corynn Gurden, Meagan Gurden, and Brian Gurden; and sisters, Hulda Moore of Windfall, N.C., and Fannie West of Chesapeake. Friends are invited to visit the family one hour prior to the service. A celebration of Doris' life will be held Saturday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. in Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23666. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn- woodfh.com to share memories and words of comfort with the family.
