Joseph Russell Obituary

Joseph H. Russell PORTSMOUTH - Joseph Howard "Buddy" Russell, 85, passed away Nov. 11, 2010. He was born Dec. 30, 1924 in Key West, Fla., to the late Joseph H. and Juliette Russell of Key West. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years retiring in 1961. He also worked for the City of Norfolk for 25 years before retiring. He was a Master Mason in Lodge 0002. He is survived by his loving wife, Adele Russell who resides at Lillian's Loving Care, Portsmouth; three sisters, Juliette Ruth (Harry) Elwood of Chesapeake, Nellie Louise (Elmore) Pinder of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Margaret R. Scully of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; two children, Lorraine (Pat) McCracken of McKinney, Texas and Richard Russell of Miami; two grandchildren, Robert and Alan McCracken; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special friends, Cecil and Barbara Proffit and family of Windsor, Va. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. T.M. Frye officiating. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
