Betty King Obituary

Betty Jane King VIRGINIA BEACH - Betty Jane King, 75, of the 1200 block of Burlington Road, went to her heavenly home Nov. 12, 2010 as she was surrounded by her close family and friends at Sentara Leigh Hospital. Angels rejoiced when she was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Bobby Lee King; her father, Kenneth W. Adams; her mother, Gertrude D. Walsh; her brothers, Billy K. Adams and Louis F. Adams. She was born Nov. 2, 1935 in the mountains of Crumpler, W.Va. She spent most of her years in Virginia Beach, where she made it her home. She was a faithful member of the Kempsville Baptist Church. She was the heart of her family, a devoted mother and grandmother. Her unconditional love touched the lives of all those who were near to her. Her strength, kindness and generosity will always be remembered. Cherished memories of her throughout our lives will remain in our hearts forever. She leaves behind her sole surviving brother, Johnny R. Adams (Maxine); daughters, Ivy Bissett, Karen Gudac (Jim); sons, Kenny (Eleanor), Robert (Sandy), Donald, Steve (Desiree) and Randy; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. There will be a celebration of her life at her church, Kempsville Baptist Church, Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Carlton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 945, Virginia Beach, VA 23451, the Kempsville Baptist Church, 5204 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462, or to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060. Mama King, you will always be in the hearts and memories of more people than you know!! Speaking as the son that you emotionally adopted and my family that you welcomed into your heart and home!! Your memory and love that surrounded you live for eternity!!
